The Spa on Rodeo’s very own podiatrist, Dr. Bobby Pourziaee gave some expert advise for an article post on WhoWhatWear. Dr. Bobby dished out his tips for finding the perfect pair of ankle boots.

Pick a Wide Heel

According to Dr. Pourziaee, “Boots with a heel that is wider and less than two inches is ideal, as it provides the most stability.” A wider heel means that the heel of your foot will be resting comfortably on that of the shoe. Also the shorter the heel, the less it strains your feet throughout the day.

Look for Support

Dr. Pourziaee also advises to “choose a boot with a firm heel counter. Just because the fabric covers your ankle doesn’t necessarily mean it provides adequate support.” Your feet need a cushioned layer to rest on, just like your body does when you sleep at night. Walking on a hard board is going to cause your feet a lot of pain in turn making it hard to walk.

Leave Room for Swelling

As Dr. Pourziaee says, “buy boots that are wide enough for a comfortable fit to prevent blisters and corns.” Because feet swell throughout the day from walking “try on boots with the socks or stockings you are planning on wearing with them to ensure proper fit. Also, shop for shoes at the end of the day. Feet tend to swell throughout the day, and it’s best to try on shoes while your feet are in that state.”
